DCSTYLE, a nonprofit organization founded by two Arlington teenagers, Bradley Johnson and Caroline Helfgott, will be hosting a fashion show to benefit their less fortunate fellow students on May 19 from 2-4 p.m at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Associations (NRECA) ballroom in Ballston. DCSTYLE started in the playroom of Johnson and Helfgott when they were small children, a space which now serves as the duo’s headquarters.

So where did this early zeal for charity originate? “My parents instilled in us a desire to give back to our community of Arlington,” says, Johnson, adding, “Our goal is to raise money for college scholarships to be given to deserving teens that otherwise might not have an opportunity to attend college.” The beneficiary is Arlington Community Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Initiative.

Taking part in the event will be internationally known hair stylist and philanthropist Dennis Roche of Roche Salon, and models Megan Amons, daughter of “The Real Housewives of D.C.” star and Labels for Love Founder Mary Amons (Labels for Love is a nonprofit that produces fashion events in support of women and children’s causes), as well as Will Phillips, son of Janet Kelly Phillips and the late Bill Phillips.

Want to join the event as more than just a spectator? DCSTYLE will be conducting a model search this Saturday, March 23, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the NRECA’s ballroom. Any interested models between the ages of 13-18 who would like to participate in the fashion show are encouraged to attend.
